Hosting Providers Are Starting to Pass On RAM Costs and Other Fees

Given current RAM and NVMe drive prices, how can you avoid prohibitive pricing on the new server ranges?

OVHcloud has chosen to «dilute» the costs by partly passing them onto older-generation machines. It has begun informing affected customers, with a date to remember: April 1, 2026.

At the same deadline, prices will rise at Hetzner. The German host says the move was necessary both in light of hardware costs and the operation of its infrastructure (electricity prices in Germany remain among the highest in Europe). Unlike OVHcloud, Hetzner has published its forthcoming pricing grid. Here is a summary, focused on hourly rates — the increase is of the same order for monthly rates.

Around 30% increase for cloud servers

Hetzner operates in two data centers in Germany (Falkenstein, in Saxony; Nuremberg, in Bavaria), one in Finland (Helsinki), two in the United States (Ashburn, Virginia; Hillsboro, Oregon) and one in Singapore.

In Germany and Finland, the price hike ranges from 30% to 35% for cloud servers (families CAX, CCX, CPX, and CX) and from 36% to 39% for load balancers. Base object storage rises by 28% and extensions by 30%.

In the United States and Singapore, the increases are around +30% for CCX, 30–33% for CPX and 36–39% for load balancers.

Across all these locations, the price of volumes and snapshots goes up by 30%.

From 3% to 30% for dedicated servers

For dedicated servers hosted in Germany:

Servers AX DX EX GEX SX
Range of increase 3 to 31% 16 to 17% 12 to 15% 16% 5 to 17%

For units in Finland:

Servers AX DX EX SX
Range of increase 3 to 18% 16 to 17% 13 to 16% 15 to 17%

In Germany and Finland, Hetzner applies a 3% increase to auctioned servers (Dutch auction, where price falls over time).

Hetzner dedicated servers: which configurations for what prices?

For dedicated servers, we look at the monthly price, excluding VAT, for the cheapest and the most expensive in each family. An exception is the EX130-R/S, currently not available in Hetzner’s price comparator.
