Prakash Panjwani Takes the Helm at Acronis

Acronis, the maker of AI-powered cybersecurity protection solutions for managed service providers (MSPs) and IT teams, has appointed a new CEO.

Prakash Panjwani takes over from Jan-Jaap ‘JJ’ Jager, who remains a shareholder in the company.

The new CEO’s background features leadership roles at major cybersecurity players. He notably led WatchGuard Technologies and SafeNet. During a decade at the helm of WatchGuard, he steered the company’s evolution from a firewall-centric vendor to a broader offering that includes endpoint detection and response (EDR), extended detection and response (XDR), and AI-powered managed detection and response (MDR) services.

In his roadmap, Panjwani intends to unite cybersecurity, data backup, infrastructure administration, and automated service management within a single, integrated technology stack.

The stated objective is to help managed service providers streamline their processes and reduce operating costs through AI automation.
