Scaleway strengthens its presence in Europe with new availability zones in Milan, Sweden, and Denmark.
The cloud provider is also planning two AI compute infrastructures: a GPU-based AMD supercomputer in Sweden and a NVIDIA-powered GPU Zone in Copenhagen.
In Sweden, Scaleway plans to install its first supercomputer outside of France. The cluster will rely on AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs and ROCm, AMD’s open software stack for accelerated computing.
Its deployment involves several industry partners: Bull for cluster integration, installation, and maintenance; Giga Computing for servers; HPE Networking for Ethernet networking; and VAST Data for the data platform.
Scaleway describes this infrastructure as one of the first of its kind deployed by a European cloud provider. This claim should be understood within the precise scope, particularly regarding the equipment and the cluster’s characteristics.
In Denmark, the company announces a Copenhagen GPU Zone project based on NVIDIA HGX B300 systems. These HPC-focused sites complement the standard availability zones.
Scaleway says it selects locations based on proximity to customers, access to reliable and low-carbon energy, and climatic conditions that may reduce cooling needs.
The company cites Copenhagen City and the AI company Corti among its Danish customers. Its chief executive, Damien Lucas, ties the project to European organizations seeking computing capacity from providers they deem trustworthy.
Scaleway and its parent company Iliad participate in the European AI Gigafactory project.
