Proofpoint Acquires Acuvity to Strengthen Security and Expand Threat-Protection Capabilities

Proofpoint announces its acquisition of Acuvity, a company specializing in AI security and governance. The deal aims to integrate into its platform capabilities for visibility and control over how AI is used within work environments.

The rapid rise of generative AI in business is creating new security and compliance challenges. Deployments of autonomous agents, chat assistants, or applications connected to large language models expose organizations to emerging risks: exposure of sensitive data, leaks of intellectual property, regulatory non-compliance, or prompt-injection attacks.

The integration of Acuvity should enable Proofpoint to deliver real-time monitoring of interactions among users, data, and AI agents. Acuvity’s technology, designed to detect and govern both internal and external AI usage, provides a comprehensive mapping of access points used (endpoints, browsers, local tools, or AI infrastructures). It also helps control the data exchanged with third-party AI services.

According to Proofpoint, this acquisition will complement its existing offerings in employee security and information protection, by adding a governance layer for AI usage within critical workflows.

Neither the transaction amount nor the precise terms of integration have been disclosed.
