Docaposte, the digital subsidiary of the La Poste group, has announced the creation of Docaposte Santé, a new entity designed to consolidate all of its expertise in the health sector. This encompasses software publishing, the orchestration of health pathways, the interoperability of systems, and the integration of digital solutions. The stated objective is to position this structure as the sovereign editor and leading operator of digital health in France.
A sector under pressure… digitally
The motivation behind this creation is well understood: the French health system faces deep structural tensions, and deploying digital technologies within a sovereign, ethical, and secure framework provides a concrete lever to meet these challenges.
Docaposte Santé will draw on the group’s cross-cutting capabilities in health data hosting (HDS), sovereign cloud, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, UX, and design.
On the technical front, Docaposte Santé aims to promote a vision of the hospital information system based on an open architecture and recognized interoperability standards: openEHR, FHIR and OMOP. The ambition is to move away from systems built by stacking siloed applications, enabling secure and structured data exchange among authorized actors.
Five priorities by 2030
The roadmap for Docaposte Santé revolves around five strategic axes: rethink the electronic patient record (EPR) by natively enhancing it with AI; integrate AI into all hospital software solutions; make the DALVIA platform the linchpin of AI usage; develop a platform for orchestrating health journeys at the territorial scale; and unlock the value of data through health data warehouses (HDWs).
These priorities translate into five objectives: connect actors to streamline access to care, structure and secure data flows, improve organizational efficiency, free up medical time for clinicians, and develop a predictive and population-based approach.
This new entity also fits within La Poste Santé & Autonomie, which since 2023 brings together La Poste’s human proximity services and Docaposte’s digital health expertise.
Olivier Vallet, CEO of Docaposte, sums up the ambition: “By bringing together our expertise within Docaposte Santé, our objective is to reach the critical mass needed to design, operate, and industrialize the deployment of digital solutions capable of addressing the transformation challenges facing the health system.”
