Note: Locating the inference in the United States adds 10% to the bill.
This is how Claude Platform on AWS works, now available.
It is essentially a commercial integration. The idea: access Anthropic services through the AWS Console, which handles authentication, billing and logging, without hosting the inference.
A similar offering exists on Azure, but it is in beta.
An Alternative to the Amazon Bedrock Option
Compared with Claude on Bedrock, Claude Platform on AWS provides quicker access to new features — including experimental ones — via a dedicated header. In return, there is no direct integration with Bedrock services (safeguards, knowledge bases, etc.). And options for inference residency are limited: USA or global.
The service provisions an organization within the AWS account. It is not possible to import Anthropic organization settings. Workspaces can be created in 17 Amazon cloud regions (including Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Munich, Paris, Stockholm and Zurich).
The catalog currently comprises seven models: Claude Haiku 4.5, Sonnet 4.5/4.6/4.7, and Opus 4.5/4.6/4.7. Excluding the extra cost tied to US-based inference, pricing matches that of the Anthropic API. However, the progression between usage tiers (tiers 1 to 4, each associated with budget, request and token limits) is not automatic.
MCP Connector, Skills for Agents… Components Still in Beta
AWS controls replace Anthropic’s for elements such as budget management. Some features disappear, such as the Fast Mode (faster inference at an added cost).
Among the Claude features available in this new offering:
- Web search and retrieval
- Code execution
- Discovery and programmatic invocation of tools
- Extended reasoning and adaptive thinking
- Prompt caching
- Structured outputs
- Citations
- Batch processing
The API Files, the skills for agents, the MCP connector and context compression/editing are still in beta. The same goes for the Advisor tool (a faster and cheaper querying model that, during development, consults a smarter model). And for managed agents (running Claude as an agent in a managed environment).
The Azure preview offering does not yet manage data residency, batch processing, or the Advisor tool. It is supported only on certain Anthropic SDKs (C#, Java, PHP, Python, TypeScript). The model selection is slightly different: Claude Haiku 4.5, Sonnet 4.5/4.6, Opus 4.1/4.5/4.6/4.7.
