Conversely, an ingestion platform exposes its costs. It formalizes a service commitment. It pools maintenance, evolution, and compliance efforts. And above all, it introduces predictability. It enables planning, budgeting, and industrialization. It turns debt into a controllable expense. Financial discipline makes visible what is structurally opaque.

The technological perspective: infrastructure first

From the IT leadership side, the conclusion is even clearer. Ingestion is not an area where the company can differentiate itself. No customer will choose a product because its pipelines are homegrown. On the other hand, all digital services rely on reliable, available, well-synchronized data. Ingestion is therefore an infrastructure function. Like networking, cybersecurity, or storage, the question is not to innovate but to ensure. And in this logic, outsourcing to a robust, proven, maintained tool is a sensible choice.

Entrusting ingestion to a dedicated platform frees internal teams to focus on the truly differentiating challenges such as architecture, governance, quality, and analytics. Continuing to tinker with ingestion internally diverts scarce resources from their core mission.
