Orange Cyberdefense will integrate Mistral Large 4, also known as “Le Chonk,” into its security offerings.
The deployment will begin gradually with a selection of enterprise and public sector clients.
The agreement grants Orange Cyberdefense access to a variant of Mistral Large 4 tuned for advanced cybersecurity use cases, notably penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and red-teaming.
According to Mistral, this access is reserved for selected partners and governed by rigorous checks as well as contractual guarantees.
The model is presented as an open, one-trillion-parameter model trained in Europe. Mistral notes that it scores 51% on the Artificial Analysis Cyber Index, a benchmark measuring the ability to discover, reproduce and fix vulnerabilities in code.
sovereignty and sensitive data
Orange plans to run the models dedicated to its cybersecurity operations on computing capacity located in Europe. The stated objective is to strengthen digital sovereignty while meeting compliance requirements.
From Mistral’s side, the approach relies on open-weight models that organizations can inspect, adapt, and deploy on their own infrastructure. The publisher highlights the ability to process source code, security telemetry, incident logs, or threat intelligence in a controlled environment, without going through an external API.
In a first phase, Orange Cyberdefense will focus its efforts on two axes: identifying vulnerabilities in its clients’ defenses before attackers exploit them, and accelerating investigation when a security incident occurs.
Mistral also outlines several scenarios for this type of model, such as code analysis and patch generation, evaluation of applications and cloud configurations, or assisting investigations by correlating events from different security tools.
Orange Cyberdefense, which posted €1.3 billion in revenue in 2025, did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
The partnership sits within a broader relationship between Orange and Mistral formalized in 2025.
