Around ten Claude-connected apps are now “interactive”.
In the background, the MCP Apps specification has been stabilized. It emerged a few weeks ago at the crossroads of the MCP-UI project and OpenAI’s Apps SDK, with Anthropic in the loop. The promise: standardize how UI resources are declared by MCP servers.
The initial spec focuses on text/html content. It separates data from templates to allow host apps to control them before execution. Rendering occurs through an iframe. Communications use JSON-RPC, making them auditable.
When connecting to an MCP server, the host signals whether it manages these UI components. If not, the associated tools deliver only text. It also conveys various preferences: locale and timezone, theme (light or dark), display mode (inline, fullscreen or embedded), platform (mobile, web or desktop)…
Nine Interactive Apps to Get Started
Microsoft has integrated MCP Apps into Visual Studio Code for beta testers. The coding assistant Goose has also jumped on board. Like OpenAI, expected to formalize within the week its first “interactive applications” based on this specification.
Meanwhile, you can experiment with around ten on Claude’s paid editions (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise).
Amplitude
Updated with MCP Apps support, the Amplitude connector lets you create graphs and explore them (format tweaks, hover information, link to open in the browser).
Asana
With MCP Apps, the Asana connector can create projects from prompts and/or documents. For each task, assignees and due dates can be edited in the interface, where a calendar view can also be displayed.
Box
MCP Apps enables the Box connector to preview a file and ask questions about it. Box’s AI can take over from Claude to summarize documents and extract actions or structured data.
Canva
MCP Apps for the Canva connector enables creating a variety of content types (diagrams, presentations, templates…), editing them, researching within them, and resizing/exporting.
Clay
In addition to interactive visualizations, MCP Apps offers, among other capabilities, text generation and editing, as well as viewing profile cards with the option to send a message.
Figma
Diagram creation—including from documents—also arrives in the Figma app. The interface also enables implementing a design in HTML/CSS and building components by leveraging the standards of a codebase.
Hex
MCP brings a variety of interactive visualizations (diagrams, tables, steps in reasoning). The responses inherit the context and access controls of the Hex workspace, we’re told.
Monday.com
The visualizations provided by MCP Apps enable creating boards, updating the status of certain items, and receiving suggestions for task assignments.
Slack
As presented, the Claude-Slack integration in MCP Apps mode allows composing/editing messages and sending them to channels or team members.
All of these features are accessible on the web and in the desktop version. Not on Claude’s mobile app. Anthropic says they will extend them soon to its Cowork product.
